A tootsie roll, an attractive sippy cup, the company of one good friend, a video of a dog chasing his tail, a balloon, a real nice eraser—that’s all toddlers need to be happier.
Perhaps, all of these made you happy when you were a toddler.
But as we get older, our thresholds change. Only something extraordinary makes us happy. We also become skilled at noticing and latching on to the negative. This attitude postpones joy.
Lower your threshold for happiness today by embracing simplicity and innocence. Enjoy the fragrance of coffee, the color of the grass, the movement of the clouds, the glow of the moon, the smile and the voice of your loved ones.
Also, try and recall a few simple things that made you happy when you were a child. It will help you steal a little extra joy from your day.
